Toronto sees more floods with TTC disrupted after heavy rainfall
Less than one week after Toronto's "100-year-storm," a section of the Don Valley Parkway (DVP) has flooded yet again following heavy rainfall and severe thunderstorms.
Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the city on Wednesday morning, warning of torrential downpours and strong wind gusts up to 90 km/h throughout the afternoon.
At approximately 2:30 p.m., Toronto Police notified motorists that the DVP was flooded near the Bloor Viaduct, with one lane completely submerged underwater.

Just a few minutes later, police warned that the eastbound lane 3 on Lake Shore Boulevard near Ontario Drive was also completely flooded, and advised motorists to consider using alternate routes.

The flooding comes just in time for the post-work rush, meaning afternoon commutes home on the two routes will undoubtedly be affected.
If you're planning on taking the TTC home, you should also be advised that trains are currently not stopping at Osgoode or St Patrick subway stations due to the flooding.

While Wednesday's sporadic storms still managed to have an effect on major roads and subway service, they had nothing on the brutal 98 millimeters of rain that fell on Toronto on July 16, which knocked out power for over 170,000 homes.

According to the Insurance Bureau of Canada, the total damages from last week's flood could surpass $1 billion — and it's not clear yet if Wednesday's rainfall will heighten costs even further.
