Here's a map of all the coronavirus test centres in and around Toronto

In an effort to curb the local spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus amidst a global pandemic outbreak, public health officials in Ontario are setting up dedicated COVID-19 assessment centres all over the province.

The first wave of test centres should be active by end of day Monday, according to Ontario's Ministry of Health, with more to come down the road — though officials still say you should always call Telehealth before going to a health care provider.

The first GTA-based assessment centres to open are or will be located at:

• William Osler Health System — Peel Memorial in Brampton (open now)
• Trillium Health Partners in Mississauga (open now)
• North York General Hospital (open now)
• Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto (open now)
• Women's College Hospital in Toronto (open now)
• Humber River Hospital in Toronto (open now)
• St. Joseph's Health Centre in Toronto (open now)
• St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto (open now)
• Scarborough Health Network — Birchmount Hospital (opening date: Monday, March 16)
• Mackenzie Health in Richmond Hill (opening date: Monday, March 16)

The assessment centres are all located in separate buildings, close to the hospitals that they are associated with, according to Ontario's Minister of Health Christine Elliot.

Ontario has also ramped up its Telehealth resources and recently launched its own COVID-19 online self-assessment tool, which is available via the government's dedicated coronavirus information web page.
