Cirque du Soleil's mindblowing Luzia wows Toronto with an artistic first

Cirque du Soleil is back in Toronto for an epic summer of big top shows, and fans won't want to miss the extravaganza.

The internationally acclaimed acrobatic circus presents Luzia for its 10th anniversary until Sunday, Aug. 30, 2026.

Described as a waking dream of Mexico, Luzia plays under the Big Top at Lake Shore Boulevard West, exploring "a sumptuous world suspended between dreams and reality." And tickets are on sale now.

"Each Cirque du Soleil show is unique, creative and inspiring," said Terrance Robinson, a generalist acrobat with the company, to blogTO.

"I've been a part of LUZIA since 2019, and the cast and crew make being on the show fun every day.

"It's also filled with artists who are at the top of their disciplines, so the high-level acrobatics look effortless, which in turn makes it easy for the public to enjoy and become fully immersed."

"Smoothly passing from an old movie set to the ocean to a smoky dance hall or an arid desert, Luzia cleverly brings to the stage multiple places, faces and sounds of Mexico taken from both tradition and modernity."

Robinson performs hoop diving and acrobatic poles during Luzia, which also incorporates rain into its acrobatic and artistic scenes. It is a first for any Cirque du Soleil touring production.

"What I love most about performing with Cirque du Soleil is seeing the audience members' faces light up and all of the different emotions they go through during the show," said the U.S.-based artist. "It reminds me that the thousands of hours I've put into what I do are worth it.

"I have not performed in Toronto before. I am looking forward to finding climbing gyms, a good cafe to frequent and a nice spot to read in the morning."

Naturally, viewers can expect aerialists, trapeze artists, aerial specialists, contortionists, and jugglers, to name a few of the production's performers.
