Toronto radio legend Marilyn Denis calls it quits after 40 years on air

Legendary Toronto broadcaster Marilyn Denis has announced she is leaving CHUM 104.5 after 40 years on air.

The iconic TV and radio personality announced on Thursday morning that she will be stepping away from her daily morning show, The Marilyn Denis Show, this summer, ending a four-decade streak on local airwaves.

"As I make the decision to step away from the station I love, I look back with pride and gratitude, knowing I had the honour of saying, 'I worked at CHUM,'" she said in a statement.

For decades, Denis was admired by the masses for her quick wit, sharp sense of humour, and her gift for leading engaging conversations with celebrities.

Denis was born in Edmonton and grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, before moving to Toronto in 1986 to work at CHUM FM, co-hosting the popular Roger, Rick and Marilyn Show.

In 1989, she expanded her media presence into television, hosting the daytime lifestyle program CityLine for the next 19 years.

In April 2023, Denis announced she was exiting her daytime TV show, The Marilyn Denis Show, after 13 seasons.

She went on to co-host the weekday radio morning show on CHUM 104.5 with Jamar McNeil, before it rebranded to The Marilyn Denis Show in 2024.

"And now, the real adventure is ahead – and I'm looking forward to all of it," Denis wrote.
