The Ten Obstructions

Erika Hennebury, Associate Producer and Co-director of Rhubarb, explains it all for you.

The Ten Obstructions in a late-night special event happening Fri, Feb 10 at 11pm in the mainspace here at Buddies for Week Two of Rhubarb. The Ten Obstructions is a a series of short performances created under a single 10 point manifesto.

The artists/companies I have invited to create these pieces are Theatre Viscera, Cahoots Theatre Projects and Jess Dobkin.

The idea was inspired by Dogme 95 and their Vow of Chastity and a film by Lars Von Trier called The 5 Obstructions.

(blogger's aside: a quote from the Dogme 95 Vow: "Furthermore I swear as a director to refrain from personal taste! I am no longer an artist. I swear to refrain from creating a "work", as I regard the instant as more important than the whole." I am so totally going)
