Sugarpants and the Picnic Project

Relatively new, Sugarpants works hard to paint the world pink. A collective run by Wynter Rosen, Sharon Medina, Erin Glover and Donna Kahner, their efforts pay off in an array of gorgeous doodads and art pieces, everything from shawls to jewellery to chandeliers.

I picked up a beautiful, 5ft painted steel garden flower created by artist JP Schoss ($48 +tax). JP recycles steel from oil tanks, farm implements or any found steel he can use. It's a great idea and his work captures an eccentric spirit that's fun and original.

While you're there, visit Swoon Gallery in the back for "The Picnic Project," a recently opened show featuring selections from Jean Chin (my favourite), Beverly Owens, Amy Dryer and more. To July 31.

Sugarpants is at 63 Ossington, 416-531-3426.
