Stencils, Stickers, Posters

Montreal is particularly hot for postering and stenciling their city... but I'd say Toronto's not far behind. There's an exhibit beginning tonight at Base Gallery that features artists who poster, stencil and sticker our GTA. It's all ages from 5-8pm, and +19 after 9pm.

The show features artists who use "guerilla marketing tactics" that stem from a constant over-saturation with the media. Gee, can you relate? Through stencils, stickers and posters, these artists have found a popular and cheap medium to get their message out to the people at eye level.

I say thank god for alternative graffiti, but some may disagree... especially those who have to scrape off poster glue from their windows and mail slots on Queen street West.
