No Regrets for the Deadpool

Posted by Tim / April 28, 2009

No RegretsNo Regrets might have had a few. The dreaded notice of termination (below) was posted to their front entrance recently informing all Liberty Village lunchers that the restaurant/bar/event space's time was up. And maybe my description here was part of the problem. I'm not sure if No Regrets ever figured out what it was trying to be.

When it first opened, the combination of restaurant downstairs and event space/lounge/bar upstairs was definitely something new in the neighbourhood. Initially, the kitchen turned out some pretty tasty stuff at reasonable prices but over the years the formula was tweaked, then overhauled and I sort of stopped paying attention.

It's too bad. No Regrets had a lot of unfulfilled potential. The space (despite being hidden as part of the Dufferin Liberty Centre was a dreamy post and beam enclave that, in the right hands, could still be transformed into something interesting.

I live in Liberty Village and have never even noticed it was there.

This is very sad news ;(. Our team, commandN (and often some folks at Citytv), shot at No Regrets and hung out there over the past few years. The owner, Kerry, is a friend - and he made a mean pepper burger ;). Wishing him and his crew all the best.

Sad, sad news. We had a lot of fun parties there over the years. Great food too. Hope the owners can move on and re-open elsewhere.

Oh that's pretty sad news. We had some great events at No Regrets and the beer was always good!

Too bad as I have attended many parties at No Regrets & the food was always good.
I work in the building that No Regrets was in....there are notices for Lease in Arrears from the landlord in many of the units. Makes me wonder how the management is running things!

That's too bad, many great events were had there but I agree with Tim it never really evolved.

I had also heard that Kerry was sick, hope he's doing well and we'll see him a new location soon.

I don't know what you people are smoking and I want none of it. While it is sad to see a local business go, and hearing that the owner is sick is sad, the place just simply sucked.

While the burgers where indeed good, the service was just terrible and rude, and jebus, the wait to eat was just incredible.

The biggest problem with it was the building itself. When it was originally empty, it included a door at the corner of Liberty and Mowat (or whatever that street is) as well as one right on Liberty.

For whatever strange reason, they chose to divide the space into two spaces, and the corner and Liberty door went to some office, while they elected to use a walk-up(!) entrance on the side and one around back.

This essentially made the place invisible. It was really nice inside but they lost the corner exposure that having a big sign right there over a large door and instead went with a crappy banner sign on the side.

It's a miracle this place lasted as long as it did.

^Ditto Jeremy's comments.

I work in Liberty Village and eat lunch near my office every day, and had never heard of this place until now.

Wow, so sad. We had our wedding bash at that place.
