Forecasts say it's going to feel like summer again in Toronto this week

Toronto may have gotten a brief taste of winter weather in the last few days, but the sudden chill doesn't mean the end of the balmy temperatures we've had in this milder-than-usual fall, according to the latest forecasts.

Meteorologists who predicted a slow ease into winter this year were right, after extended summery conditions actually delayed the province's characteristic autumn leaves and pushed the mercury into the mid-20s C in the first week of October.

After a colder blip over the weekend that was more fitting of the time of year, we're slated to see more unseasonably high temperatures this coming week — so unseasonable that The Weather Network (TWN) is calling it "a pretty profound temperature anomaly."

"Temperatures will reverse course from the typical seasonal decline," the agency stated on Monday, projecting temps across Ontario that will feel 10 C to 12 C above normal for late October.

Areas including Windsor, London, Hamilton and Barrie will see temperatures hit 20 C by Wednesday, along with "exceptionally warm" overnight lows that are toastier than what Southern Ontario usually experiences during even midday at this point in the season.

TWN notes in its forecast that while most of the region usually only sees a few days above 20 C during our spookiest month, "most regions are at 6 days, with the potential to tack on a couple more this week."

After a morning frost advisory followed by a sunny afternoon high of 14 C on Monday, temperatures in Toronto are expected to rise to 20 C on Thursday and 21 C on Friday — and will even feel a few degrees hotter — with chances of showers on both days.

By the weekend, we'll be back to around 12 C under rainy skies, with cooler climate on the way next week.
