Ontario hotel offers a Nordic Spa and sends ultra-luxury cars to chauffeur you around

If a luxury staycation in Ontario is on your bingo card this year, the Kat Florence Hotel in the town of Elora might just be the perfect backyard escape without having to shell out airfare.

Located just one hour from Toronto by car, Elora is already known for its small-town charm and quaint downtown. Pair that with what the owner touts as "Canada's most luxurious private haven," and the town becomes a nearby retreat you won't want to miss.

Opened in December 2024, the hotel is the brainchild of celebrity jewellery designer and Elora native Kat Florence. Florence transformed the 178-year-old property — originally Elora's Historic Commercial Hotel, a 70-room hotel and event space built in 1848 — into a five-star boutique retreat where guests are treated to an ultra-luxury experience.

"Restoring this historic building isn't just about saving it; it's about ensuring our town remains a place where people feel truly at home — a place where they can live, grow, and experience the true meaning of community," Florence writes on the hotel's official website.

A stay at the Kat Florence Hotel comes with some wildly indulgent complimentary goods and services that might make you feel like you've achieved celebrity status.

For starters, anyone checking in to the property is welcomed with a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Champagne.

If the bubbly wasn't enough, each night at the hotel also includes two 60-minute, in-room massages plus unlimited access to the property's Nordic spa, which is exclusive to hotel guests.

And the list goes on.

Guests are treated to a specially curated chef's tasting dinner on the first night of their stay. The multi-course experience is hosted by celebrity chef Anthony Bish at Anthony's Elora, his private restaurant, where he exclusively hosts Kat Florence Hotel guests.

The hotel's chauffeur service really drives home the celebrity treatment. Instead of navigating unfamiliar streets in a rental car, guests can take advantage of the Rolls-Royce and Bentley valet service, available throughout their stay for rides around town and wherever they wish to explore.

There are five different room options to choose from, each featuring heated floors and premium toiletries for added comfort. The suites also include a dining area, bar, living room, and fireplace, an attempt to elevate the experience even further.

Rates at the Kat Florence Hotel start at $1,280 and go up to $2,480 per night, plus applicable taxes, depending on the room selected, and you can book directly through the hotel's website.

While the price tag may seem steep, one could argue that the extensive amenities and complimentary services included in each stay may make the splurge well worth it.
