Ontario's heart-shaped lake will soon be transformed with stunning fall colours
Heart Lake is a stunning natural landmark shaped like a near-perfect heart in Ompah, Ontario.
The naturally heart-shaped lake is a breathtaking sight year-round, but in the fall it transforms into something truly magical: the pristine, blue body of water surrounded by fiery red trees creates a stunning contrast of colours in the middle of Ontario's wilderness, only further bolstered by the lake's photogenic shape.
Tucked away in North Frontenac, this secluded lake sits on Crown land and is known as one of the province's most unique hidden gems. Its distinctive shape once had people pouring in from different parts of the country, but access has now been restricted for over five years.
However, it's not entirely impossible to see it for yourself.
Unfortunately for adventurers, there are no public trails or lookouts nearby that offer legal access, and the only way people manage to capture its beauty today is by flying drones over the area.
Some have inquired about renting cottages around the lake to take in its beauty at a closer proximity. There are no cottages available to rent on Heart Lake. Still, one Redditor makes a suggestion for anyone interested in lodging close to the lake: "There's another lake just a stone's throw away, that this lake feeds from, that has three cottages nearby."
So, while you can't hike to Heart Lake, you can always indulge in its beauty through the pictures you see online.
However, that doesn't mean you can't enjoy another heart-shaped lake. While not quite as pristine as the undisturbed wilderness of the more famous Heart Lake, Brampton's Heart Lake Conservation Park offers trails, parking, and even kayak rentals to enjoy its namesake body of water.
