what nintendo switch 2 will cost canada

Here's what the Nintendo Switch 2 will cost in Canada

The Nintendo Switch 2 is coming out on June 5 in Canada and will cost $629 for the base model with 256GB of storage.

If you want to get the same console with a copy of Mario Kart Worlds, the price is $699.

So far, there are no pre-orders for the console, but Nintendo's Canadian website has shared the pricing, and a recent Nintendo Direct presentation has shown off many launch games and most of the hardware information.

Update April 2, 2025 at 1:04 p.m. ET: Nintendo has published pre-order details for the Switch 2 on its website, though other retailers have yet to share their pre-order options. Canadians need to register with Nintendo to get an invitation to purchase the console, with the first round of invites going out on May 8, 2025.

A story on Business Insider in the U.S. lists pre-orders starting on April 9, so I'd expect Canada to follow suit and open our pre-orders on the same day.

For context, the first Switch was $399 when it launched in Canada in 2017. Adjusted for inflation, that's around $501. The Switch OLED is $450 in Canada, so this new version is a considerable premium over that. It should also be noted that the new Switch 2 doesn't feature an OLED screen.

Make sure to read our prior coverage for all the details, but you can expect the new console to offer 4K support, a larger screen, magnetic Joy-Cons, a better kickstand, and faster internal storage.
