Thousands of Bosnia and Herzegovina fans have arrived in Toronto ahead of Friday's FIFA World Cup opener against Canada, and they are already making their presence known.
On Wednesday, a group of Bosnian fans from a Sarajevo-based travel company turned a Toronto hop-on, hop-off sightseeing bus into a World Cup party on six wheels, singing chants and waving flags as they toured the city.
Videos shared on social media show a large group of Bosnian supporters singing on the top deck of a double-decker bus as it approached Sankofa Square (formerly Yonge-Dundas Square).
As the bus entered the square, one of the giant digital billboards featured a Nike Canada campaign starring Canadian national team defender Richie Laryea. The ad read: "I hope you regret your stay."
By the looks of the atmosphere on the bus, the Bosnian supporters were doing the opposite.
Many of the fans were wearing matching T-shirts that read, "I am from Bosnia, take me to America," a reference to a popular 2011 song by Bosnian band Dubioza Kolektiv that has become something of an anthem for supporters following the team in the lead-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The travel company later shared additional photos from the tour on its Facebook page.
"Our passengers from Bosnia and Herzegovina have successfully arrived in Canada and have already started their unforgettable adventure. Smiles, flags of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the unity that we carry wherever we go," the company wrote.
Although the exact number of away supporters in Toronto for Friday's match has not been confirmed, the Bosnian-Canadian Association estimates that 25,000 supporters from Bosnia and Herzegovina will be in the city for the opening game and World Cup-related festivities.
After facing Canada on Friday, Bosnia and Herzegovina will then travel to Los Angeles and Seattle to play other Group B opponents, Switzerland and Qatar.
