Schneider's roster fate revealed with Barger returning for Toronto Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays were faced with an interesting decision heading into the weekend.

With Addison Barger returning to the lineup, Toronto had to send one player down to the minors in order to make room for the 26-year-old outfielder.

The choice really boiled down to this: do the Blue Jays keep the hot bat in Yohendrick Pinango, or the good vibes guy in Davis Schneider?

When removing emotion from the equation, the choice seemed obvious.

However, the Blue Jays opted for the vibes, sending Pinango to Triple-A while keeping Schneider on the roster as Barger returns.

Pinango has been batting .423 for the Blue Jays in 10 games played this season, making him one of the most effective batters on the roster of late.

Schneider, who famously let Barger sleep on his couch during the World Series, has a ghastly .123 batting average so far this season. While he's had a propensity for showing up in big moments, his consistency just hasn't been there.

Pinango has 11 hits in 10 games this season, while Schneider has just seven hits in 29 games.

The Blue Jays continue their series against the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday at Rogers Centre, after defeating them 2-0 on Friday.
