FIFA World Cup tourists will need this one form of ID to buy alcohol at Toronto Stadium

If you're an international soccer fan heading down to Toronto for the FIFA World Cup, you'll need more than just your driver's licence to crack open a cold one at Toronto Stadium on match days.

Toronto is set to host six matches during the global tournament, including the Canadian national team's opening match.

According to FIFA's website, guests at Toronto Stadium will be required to present valid identification when consuming alcohol, and international visitors will be required to show their passport, as foreign driver's licences or other forms of identification will not be accepted.

These rules will be applicable at the multiple food and drink stops throughout the stadium, including the private suites, Pitchside Lounge, Trophy Lounge, and Champions Club.

When you're packing your passport, make sure to also double-check that your bag meets FIFA's requirements, as stadiums will be following a strict, clear bag policy for safety and efficiency reasons. Approved bags must be clear and made of plastic, vinyl, or PVC material, and must not exceed 12 inches x 6 inches x 12 inches (30 cm x 30 cm x 15 cm).

If you're planning on attending the FIFA Fan Festival at Fort York and The Bentway, just be mindful that bringing in any liquids containing alcohol (except hand sanitizers no larger than 100 ml) is strictly prohibited, although alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase on-site.

Reusable water bottles, however, are permitted and can be refilled at the free water stations available across the site.

Toronto will be hosting FIFA matches on June 12, June 17, June 20, June 23, June 26, as well as a round-of-32 knockout stage game on July 2.
