The Toronto Maple Leafs waited until the very last minute to get involved in some trade deadline action, making two trades.
In their first move of the day, the Leafs reportedly sent forward Bobby McMann to the Seattle Kraken in exchange for a 2027 second-round pick and a 2026 fourth-round pick. The 29-year-old, who is a pending UFA, has scored 19 goals and 32 points this season. He's racked up 54 goals in 200 NHL games to date.
The second Leafs deal of the day was announced minutes later, as they reportedly sent Scott Laughton to the Los Angeles Kings for a conditional third-round pick. As per ESPN's Emily Kaplan, the third-round pick will become a second if the Kings make the playoffs. They currently sit three points shy of the Kraken for a playoff spot.
Neither of these deals came as a major surprise, as the Leafs, who sit seventh in the Atlantic Division, were expected to be sellers. GM Brad Treliving kicked things off on Thursday when he sent Nic Roy to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for a conditional 2027 first-round pick, and a conditional 2026 fifth-round selection.
One player who the Leafs didn't move was Oliver Ekman-Larsson. The 34-year-old was involved in plenty of trade speculation in recent weeks, but never garnered an offer Treliving and his management staff found suitable. He is under contract through the 2027-28 season with a $3.5 million cap hit.
Due to the Leafs' struggles this season, there have been rumours about major changes coming in the summer. Treliving's job is believed to be up in the air, as is head coach Craig Berube's.
