Toronto Blue Jays have a new famous fan who stars in the NFL

One of the Toronto Blue Jays' newest and most famous fans was at Rogers Centre on Monday night to watch a showdown against the Colorado Rockies.

San Francisco 49ers tight end and seven-time Pro Bowler George Kittle and his wife, Claire, took to Instagram to share their excitement ahead of Monday's outing, one in which they were set to watch a family member make his Blue Jays debut.

As it turns out, Cody Ponce, who the Jays signed to a three-year deal this offseason, is Kittle's brother-in-law. Both Kittle and Claire shared their excitement immediately after it was announced that Ponce had inked a $30 million deal with the Jays.

Unfortunately for the Kittle family, Ponce's return to the Majors took an ugly turn in the second inning.

Having racked up three strikeouts through 2.1 innings, Ponce appeared to have an easy out after he forced Rockies outfielder Jake McCarthy to hit a soft ground ball back out towards the mound. While attempting to scoop the ball up, he hyperextended his right knee and went down immediately.

Ponce was unable to put any weight on his right leg and was forced to be removed from the game. There hasn't been an updated provided from the Blue Jays.

Given how big of a role he was supposed to have in the rotation this season, Blue Jays fans are anxiously hoping this injury doesn't turn out to be anything serious. If it isn't, there's a good chance we could see the Kittle family make several more appearances at Rogers Centre this season.
