Former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Alek Manoah didn't take long to find a new home on the free-agent market.
Manoah signed a one-year, $1.95 million deal with the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday. Most important of all for the 27-year-old is that it is a fully guaranteed big-league deal.
Right-hander Alek Manoah and the Los Angeles Angels are in agreement on a one-year, $1.95 million contract, a source tells ESPN. Manoah, 27, was non-tendered by Atlanta and lands with the Angels on a fully guaranteed big league deal.

After being released by the Blue Jays in September, Manoah was scooped up by the Atlanta Braves. His time with Atlanta was short-lived, as Manoah was non-tendered in November despite not throwing a single pitch for the organization.
The Angels are taking a low-risk gamble here. Manoah's struggles could continue, but he has potential to get back to the dominant level he was at 2021 and 2022. In 2022, he posted a 2.24 ERA through 31 starts and finished third in AL Cy Young voting.
Manoah's career has gone off the rails since 2022, both due to inconsistency and injuries. He was unable to make any big-league starts in 2025, but had several starts with various minor league teams as he worked his way back from UCL surgery.
At the very least, Manoah should get a good opportunity with the Angels, who don't appear to have a good starting rotation heading into 2026. Another positive to come from it is that Monoah will reunite with Yusei Kikuchi, who he was teammates with for three seasons on the Jays.
