New round of FIFA World Cup tickets in Canada just dropped and here's what they cost

The latest phase in getting FIFA World Cup tickets for next year is finally open.

On Thursday, the Random Selection Draw process for next year's FIFA World Cup began, with 13 matches being held next year in Toronto and Vancouver.

It's the third of four phases of ticket sales but the one with the most tickets available, with only about 20 per cent of tickets sold so far in the two presale phases.

The draw entry period is open until January 13, with no advantage in signing up for prospective tickets earlier.

Essentially, interested buyers can put in their info for what games and dates they'd like to attend, and they'll be thrown into a random draw should they be selected. But buyer beware: if you do get lucky, you'll be automatically charged for your tickets in February, which means that you can't select too many options if you're not planning on actually buying them.

All tickets can be purchased through FIFA.com/tickets.

Vancouver FIFA World Cup prices

Both the Canada vs. Qatar and Canada vs. Switzerland matches on June 18 and 24 of next year have the same prices.

Category 1:  $980
Category 2: $700
Category 3: $370 

Meanwhile, here's the price range for the five other games in Vancouver:

Australia vs. European playoff winner: $195-$630
New Zealand vs. Egypt: $195-$630
New Zealand vs. Belgium: $250-$700
Round of 32: $320-$840 (Canada match if they win Group B)
Round of 16: $445-$1,070 (Canada match if they win Group B and Round of 32)

Toronto FIFA World Cup prices

Toronto will host just one Canada match, but it'll be the priciest.

Notably, all Category 4 (the cheapest seats) appear to have sold out in the first two ticket phases.

Should there be any tickets available after the random selection draw, they'll be released to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. FIFA's official ticketing platform also has a resale section, where fans who didn't get lucky enough to buy at face value can purchase tickets from other buyers.
