World Series ticket prices to see Blue Jays play in Toronto are out of control

While we don't know if the Toronto Blue Jays or Los Angeles Dodgers will be crowned World Series champions this year, we do know one thing: it'll happen at the Rogers Centre.

By way of the Blue Jays' 6-2 win over the Dodgers on Tuesday night, the two teams guaranteed that they'll be heading back to Toronto for at least Game 6 and a possible Game 7.

The series is now effectively a best-of-three: whichever team wins two more games first will be crowned the victor.

And with fans in both markets clamouring to see a bit of history, it's quite the price point to see the World Series live.

Wednesday's game in Los Angeles isn't actually sold out yet, but it's close enough that we can reckon it will, with a few blocks of tickets available via the Dodgers' website for US$925, or about C$1,288.

Back in Toronto, the prices aren't exactly getting better.

On StubHub, the best we could find for Friday's Game 6 is C$1,886 for a standing room ticket, or C$1,893 for a seat in the 500 level in the depths of left field. While the face value seats have all sold out via the team's primary ticket broker, the lowest resale price is C$1,904 for an upper-level seat on Ticketmaster.

And a prospective Game 7 on Saturday night at the Rogers Centre might have the highest entry cost ever for a sporting event in Toronto.

It's C$2,772 for a standing room ticket, or C$2,843 for a seat on StubHub. Meanwhile, the cheapest seat we could find is $2,933 on Ticketmaster's resale market.

We won't offer financial advice on how to dole out your money, but we will offer a fact for comparison: Game 7 tickets cost several hundred dollars more than the average monthly rent in Canada or the final weekend of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour in Toronto.
