Break out the antacids, because Toronto Blue Jays fans just broke their Loonie Dogs Night hot dog consumption record, gobbling enough glizzies to stretch almost 14 kilometres if (for some inexplicable reason) the hot dogs were lined up end-to-end.
The Jays hosted the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night for the second game of a three-game series at the Rogers Centre, falling to the visiting team 7-5 before a sellout crowd of 42,235.
While the Jays couldn't add to their AL East-leading win tally in a heartbreaking comeback victory for the Twins, hometown fans did manage to walk away with a significant achievement under (and perhaps another notch added to) their belts.
Jays fans wolfed down a staggering 92,221 hot dogs on Tuesday night, absolutely shattering the previous record of 84,731 downed dogs established in July.
With over 42K people in attendance on Tuesday night, the final record-breaking tally translates to a relatively attainable 2.183 hot dogs per fan.

At an average length of 15 centimetres, the 92,221 hot dogs consumed by Jays fans on Tuesday night would have stretched a staggering 13.83 kilometres, or about the same distance between Rogers Centre and Rogers Stadium.
With a standard Schneider's hot dog weighing approximately 375 grams, the total weight of hot dogs consumed at Rogers Centre on Tuesday night, converted to metric, comes in at a staggering 34,582.9 kilograms.

The Toronto Blue Jays will have two more opportunities to break the already impressive record this year, with Loonie Dogs Night promotions planned for Sept. 9 vs. the Houston Astros and Sept. 23 vs. the Boston Red Sox.
