toronto blue jays loonie dog night

Toronto Blue Jays fans just scarfed down a concerning number of hot dogs

The Toronto Blue Jays aren't the only ones setting records as of late.

After picking up a franchise-best 11th straight home win on Monday night, the fan base seemingly decided it was their turn to make some magic happen, and boy, did they.

After Tuesday night's outing versus the New York Yankees had wrapped up, it was announced that the sold-out crowd at Rogers Centre went full Joey Chestnut mode and ate a whopping 84,371 loonie hot dogs. The previous record, set back in 2023, was 76,627.

Unfortunately, the Blue Jays weren't able to bring out the same level of greatness on Tuesday, as their winning streak at home was snapped as they fell by a 5-4 final to the Yankees. Despite the loss, they still sit atop the AL East with a 59-42 record, while the Yankees are second at 56-45.

For the Jays, they'll be looking to start another lengthy winning streak this evening in what is the final of a three-game series versus the Yankees. For the fans, however, their next time to have a historical night will come next month.

Loonie dog days come whenever the Blue Jays have a home outing on Tuesdays, and they happen to still have four more this season. The first will be on Aug. 12 versus the Chicago Cubs. The others will be on Aug. 26 (Minnesota Twins), Sep. 9 (Houston Astros), and Sep. 23 (Boston Red Sox).

Anyone wanting to get their hands on some tickets early ahead of one of the remaining loonie dog days can do so online.
