Canada's Wonderland debuted its new flagship attraction to much fanfare (and first-day jitters) earlier in July, with attendees braving lineups spanning the entire length of the park and scorching temperatures for the chance to ride the new record-breaking launch coaster.
Parkgoers were still lining up for hours days after the ride's July 12 debut, and blogTO caught up with some of them to see how long they waited for the experience.
Many attendees said they lined up for several hours, but while some spent as many as 180 minutes queued for AlpenFury, others noted a little hack that some parkgoers may not have considered.
High-volume attractions such as AlpenFury typically offer a second queue for single riders, who, if willing to risk being seated with strangers, can shave hours off their wait times.
One person exiting AlpenFury said they only had to wait around 20 minutes using the single-rider line, compared to another rider's three-hour wait time using the standard queue.
However, even with the long lineups, it is evident that people are willing to wait even longer than the ride queue — several parkgoers told us that they had travelled from across Ontario, with one even saying they had travelled from Winnipeg just to ride AlpenFury.

In addition to the single-rider line, you can also try visiting during off-peak (but still pretty busy) hours on weekdays, especially right at park opening.
AlpenFury is Wonderland's 18th roller coaster and the latest attraction built into the park's centrepiece, Wonder Mountain. The ride launches passengers up 50 metres into the air on a track that reaches top speeds of 115 km/h and covers much of the park with twists, turns, and a record-breaking nine inversions.
