Ana's Hot Spot
Ana's Hot Spot is a neon-hued homage to 1990s popular culture now serving up burgers in Toronto.
Advertised as "retro comfort food", Ana's Hot Spot serves burgers, fries and wings with an old school twist.
The restaurant, which opened in October of 2024, is located in a strip mall across from Eraa Supermarket on Finch Avenue East.
Though the storefront looks small from the outside — especially in comparison to the massive grocery store — the restaurant's big personality more than makes up for it.
The dining room is decked out in shades of pink and blue, with purple pendant lights hanging from the ceiling. The walls are covered in neon signs and vinyl records, with a flat-screen TV displaying an endless parade of hip-hop music videos.
A pair of arcade machines sit near the door, allowing customers to play classic video games while waiting for their food.
Mozzarella Bricks ($9.99) are the restaurant's take on fried mozzarella. True to their name, each piece is a large rectangular block, covered in crispy batter and your choice of sauce.
We opted for the All Star sauce, a combination of sweet chilli and honey garlic that complemented the gooey cheese perfectly.
Ana's Double Smash ($12.49) consists of two freshly smashed beef patties on a soft potato bun, topped with caramelized onions, cheddar cheese, lettuce, pickles and Ana's special smash sauce.
Wing Poutine ($15.49) combines two classic takeout dishes into one satisfying meal. Crispy chicken tenders are tossed in your choice of sauce, then cut into pieces and sprinkled over a plate of steaming poutine.
For this dish, we tried the Heaven's Bliss sauce, made from a combination of hot honey and ranch dressing.
Ana's Cookout ($24.99) is the restaurant's most popular meal deal — and for good reason!
This combo consists of four chicken wings, loaded fries, a can of pop and a sandwich of your choice. With the right modifications, you can essentially sample Ana's entire menu.
We used this combo as an opportunity to try the Killer Bee, a fried chicken sandwich garnished with hot honey, coleslaw, pickles and retro sauce.
We also tried the Retro Paradise Fries, which are topped with onions, diced tomatoes, melted cheese and creamy garlic sauce.
Similar to the Wing Poutine, Ana's Mac Attack ($21.99) elevates an otherwise simple macaroni dish with a few unexpected ingredients.
In addition to the crispy chicken tenders — which we chose to douse in spicy garlic parm sauce — this plate of gooey elbow pasta is garnished with parsley and house-made cheese sauce.
Be sure to save room for dessert. In addition to its wide selection of snacks, Ana's Hot Spot also carries a variety of shakes and sweets.
Biscoff Bliss Milkshake ($9.99) is a thick, creamy drink, topped with Biscoff crumble and a generous amount of whipped cream.
If you're looking for something a little more unique, try the Banana Pudding ($9.99). This tasty mix of vanilla custard and sliced bananas is made fresh daily and provides a refreshing contrast to the restaurant's savoury entrees.
Ana's Hot Spot is located at 5928 Finch Avenue East.
