Residents of Toronto's Yonge and St. Clair area are witnessing the birth of a new landmark for the neighbourhood as work progresses on an impressive condominium development that bucks the local trend of blue-glassed monotony in favour of a design that looks unlike anything else in town.
The new 44-storey condo development from Slate Asset Management and Globizen Group, known as One Delisle, has been quickly ascending above the west side of Yonge Street, just north of St. Clair subway station on the TTC's Line 1 Yonge-University.
One Delisle's unconventional exterior was a vision from the acclaimed Chicago-based architecture firm Studio Gang, marking the team's first commission in Canada.
Studio Gang is indeed making a splash with its new contribution to Toronto's urban fabric, featuring a modified cylindrical spire shape with projecting modules that resemble blooming flower petals.

One Delisle commenced construction in mid-2022, though work hit a snag in spring 2024 amid permitting issues, leading to a public dispute between the project team and the City that played out on the internet.
With foundations and underground parking constructed by mid-2024, the project team was forced to wait out approval of above-grade construction permits. This inaction led to Globizen Group founder Brandon Donnelly penning a frustrated blog post calling out the City's permitting process.
Donnelly's bold move proved effective, and permits were promptly issued last May, allowing work to ramp up above grade.
Construction has moved full steam ahead in the 14 months since, and the tower has already risen well over halfway towards its final height, now standing approximately 25 storeys above the corner of Yonge and Delisle.

As the structure ascends higher into the neighbourhood skyline, installation of its distinctive exterior has made swift progress in recent months.

Cladding installation reached the 11th floor as of late July 2025, and the final aesthetic of the project is growing clearer with each passing day.

Studio Gang describes One Delsile as "tuned to Toronto's climate and lifestyle," specifically mentioning its "distinctive facade [that] comprises a series of eight-storey hooded modules, which nest together as they spiral up the building."

Those modules are now apparent to passersby as One Delisle rises towards a final height of 155 metres, and more of its curtainwall glass and white metal panels are installed.

One Delisle is anticipated to wrap up construction in 2026, bringing 371 condominium units to the Yonge and St. Clair neighbourhood upon completion.
