The 2026 DesignTO Festival, touted by organizers as "Canada's largest annual celebration of design," is returning to Toronto on Jan. 23, 2026.
This year, DesignTO explores the impact of the materials we consume on the world, encouraging a more sustainable future. Guests will have the opportunity to engage directly with makers, learning more about their work and how it connects to the festival's theme of sustainability.
DesignTO is a 10-day, citywide event held across various venues in Toronto. Organizers promise more than 100 free installations and events throughout the festival — some exhibits may require reservations, while others may be ticketed events — with artwork showcased at popular destinations such as Sankofa Square, Gallery1065, Le Germain Hotel Toronto, and more.
The 2026 DesignTO Festival schedule features both in-person and online exhibition experiences, along with workshops, window installations, and fireside chats. Iconic photographers Jeff Wall and Steven Beckly are also set to present their highly anticipated exhibits for Toronto audiences.
The festival runs from Jan. 23 to Feb. 1, 2026, with a launch party taking place on opening day at the Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto (MOCA), from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The sixteenth edition of the DesignTO Festival will kick off with the Jeff Wall Photographs 1984–2023 exhibit, spanning three floors at MOCA.
While part of the festival itself is free to attend, the launch party does require a ticket. Early bird tickets are available until Jan. 11, 2026, with general admission priced at $30 plus HST. From Jan. 12 to Jan. 23, 2026, tickets increase to $35 plus HST.
Guests can visit the event's official website for more information about the 10-day attraction.
