dogs swim days in toronto

Toronto hosting free dog-only outdoor pool parties this summer

Your doggos are in for a treat because now's their chance to dip and dive into a Toronto public pool just like their humans — because, let's be real, they love to do everything we do, right?

The City of Toronto is opening select outdoor public pools for pups to swim in before the summer season comes to an end — these event days will also mark the last of outdoor swimming at the specific locations.

It's a completely free swim for your dog, with no reservations required, but you must present proof of their rabies vaccination and be at least 18+ years of age to come and supervise your pup. Each adult can bring a maximum of two dogs to participating pools at a time.

Although it's a free event, the City encourages you to bring donations of freeze-dried treats (chicken, beef, and/or liver), toys your beloved pet may no longer play with, and even peanut butter.

Pet owners and dogs can head on over to the following swimming pools on August 31 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

  • Greenwood Park, 150 Greenwood Avenue
  • High Park, 1873 Bloor Street West
  • Stan Wadlow Park (Kiwanis outdoor pool), 888 Cosburn Avenue
  • Lambton - Kingsway Park, 37 Marquis Avenue
  • Ledbury Park, 160 Ledbury Street
  • Monarch Park, 115 Felstead Avenue
  • Mitchell Field Community Centre, 89 Church Avenue
  • Northwood Community Centre, 15 Clubhouse Court
  • Rotary Peace Park, 25 Eleventh Street
  • Stanley Park South - Toronto, 700 Wellington Street West

And in case you miss the above day, or your pupper is up for a double dip, these pools will be available for them to swim in on September 21, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

  • Goulding Community Recreation Centre, 45 Goulding Avenue
  • Heron Park Community Centre, 292 Manse Road
  • McGregor Park Community Centre, 2231 Lawrence Avenue
  • Riverdale Park East, 550 Broadview Avenue

Remember to keep your dog hydrated when they're outdoors in the heat, even if they're in the pool — this is imperative. And, of course, never leave them unattended when they're swimming. They're safety is key for them to have a great time.

So, make sure to take your furry friends out to these pool dates so they can savour the last of summer 2o25.
