One of Toronto's best outdoor markets is back for the season this week

One of Toronto's liveliest outdoor vendor markets is finally opening up for the season this week.

Spring has arrived in Toronto and summer's right around the corner, which can only mean one thing: the city's residents are hungry for ways to spend some much-needed time under the sun.

Now, as someone who derives considerable joy from the mere act of purchasing a new trinket or piece of clothing, I may be biased, but if you ask me, outdoor markets are among the best ways to do that.

Whether it's a huge flower market featuring blooms by local growers or a tried-and-true farmers' market, gathering your crew to meander stalls, meet local and small business owners and, most importantly, spend time outdoors after being caged in all winter, just screams summer. It's the best.

For me, though, a vendor market is the creme de la creme, because, not only can you frequently find a tasty treat or two, but you can walk away with anything from a new candle to a crystal that'll supposedly help you find the love of your life (I'll plead the fifth as to whether I've been sold on the latter in the past) — and Kensington Flea is among the best.

Lucky for us all, it's returning for the season on May 3 and 4, running weekly all the way through to October.

Organized by the folks behind Bazaar Gift Shop, the weekly weekend-long market features a rotating lineup of artisans, businesses and makers from the city and beyond, vending their wares in a charming, tucked-away lot off Augusta Avenue.

Sure, it's not the biggest market you'll find in Toronto, but the careful curation that goes into it means that there's something for everyone, no matter what week you visit.

On any given weekend, you can find vintage and handmade clothing, decor, beauty products, jewellery, candles and, yes, crystals, and that's barely scratching the surface. Getting the chance to support local small businesses is just the cherry on top.

The market runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday, May through October, and it's the perfect time to explore all the great food, shopping and vibes Kensington has to offer.
