Leaside is getting a street festival this summer for the first time ever

The Leaside neighbourhood of Toronto is getting its own street festival this summer for the very first time.

Taking place over two days at the end of this month, the inaugural Viva La Leaside festival will bring together Leaside (and beyond) to celebrate their community under the sun.

Honouring not only the present state of the neighbourhood but the past, the festival will feature exhibits where you'll be able to learn about Leaside's industrial history.

For something a little more this millenium, though, you'll also be able to shop and savour food, art and decor from a number of the local vendors who help make the community unique today.

Helmed by both the Leaside Heritage Preservation Society and the Motorista Creative Society, the festival will also showcase a huge collection of vintage vehicles, including cars, motorcycles and airplanes.

All weekend long, you'll also be able to spend your time jamming out to the sounds of live bands, nibbling on eats from ten different food trucks and checking out jaw-dropping street performers.

The festival is being held in support of the Distinguished Gentleman's Drive, which is a partner of Movember — all the proceeds gained from vehicle exhibitor tickets will be dedicated to men's health research and resources.

The festival is totally free to attend, but you are encouraged to register a free ticket through the festival's website before attending. They're also still welcoming vendor, food and performer applications, which can also be sent in online.

The Viva La Leaside festival is taking place from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug 31 and Sunday, Sept 1, at and around 25 Commercial Street.
