TIFF announces the top 10 Canadian films of 2010

TIFF announced its picks for the top 10 Canadian films of 2010 tonight at an industry event. Split into two categories -- features and shorts -- here are the selections:

  • Barney's Version - Richard J. Lewis (Entertainment One)
  • Curling - Denis Côté (Mongrel Media)
  • The High Cost of Living - Deborah Chow (Filmoption)
  • Incendies - Denis Villeneuve (Entertainment One)
  • Last Train Home - Lixin Fan (Kinosmith)
  • MODRA - Ingrid Veninger (Mongrel Media)
  • Splice - Vincenzo Natali (Entertainment One)
  • Trigger - Bruce McDonald (Entertainment One)
  • Trois temps après la mort d'Anna - Catherine Martin (K Films)


  • Above the Knee -- Greg Atkins
  • Les Fleurs de l'Age -- Vincent Biron
  • I Was a Child of Holocaust Survivors -- Ann Marie Fleming (NFB)
  • The Legend of Beaver Dam -- Jerome Sable
  • The Little White Cloud That Cried -- Guy Maddin
  • Lipsett Diaries -- Theodore Ushev (NFB)
  • Marius Borodine -- Emanuel Hoss-Desmarais (Travelling Distribution)
  • Mokhtar -- Halima Ouardiri (EyesteelFilm)
  • On the Way to the Sea--Tao Gu
  • Vapor -- Kaveh Nabatian (Locomotion)

Panel discussions and public screenings featuring introductions and Q&A sessions with selected filmmakers will run from January 20 to February 1, 2011 at TIFF Bell Lightbox.
