More people pissed with Pride

Tough luck for Pride Toronto. And they were doing so will with that other little predicament too!

Blackness Yes!,, a community-based committee that works to "celebrate Black queer and Trans history, creativity, and resistance," is wagging its finger at Pride Toronto.

The committee says its Blockorama street party has been moved around for the past several years to accommodate corporate sponsors. Blockorama used to be held at the Wellesley Street parking lot until it was bumped by the TD-sponsored festival stage and beer garden. It jumped from the Beer Store parking lot to George Hislop Park, to the Alexander Street parkette back to George Hislop Park for this year and the next.

"Many felt displacement as a continued experience," committee-member Syrus Marcus Ware said to This Magazine. "They don't get it...I'm still not 100 percent convinced they have our best interests at heart."

So, is everyone in the mood to celebrate?

This year's Blockorama will be held on Sunday from 12:00 to 10:00 pm at George Hislop Park
