Tensions high at OCAP protest

Thousands of protesters have taken to downtown streets this afternoon for an Ontario Coalition Against Poverty protest in conjunction with the G8/G20 summits. Not to be outdone, police and security are out in full force. As protesters reached University and Elm at around 6 p.m., the security fence was closed as a precautionary measure.

After a stand-off between police and protesters, the march continued back east along College St., and has since passed along sections of Church and Gerrard.

More information and photos to come as we receive word from our reporters.
