Dora nominees announced


The nominees for the Dora Mavor Moore Awards were announced today, honoring the best of Toronto theatre.

Necessary Angel's "Hamlet" nabbed six nominations in the general theatre division, while "The Mill" led in independent theatre production and "The Flying Dutchman" in opera.

"The Toxic Avenger Musical" and "The Light in the Piazza" led in the musical theatre category, new this year.

Also announced was the winner of the Barbara Hamilton Memorial Award for excellence in performing and advocacy, which went to Canadian actor R.H. Thomson. Past recipients include Colin Mocherie and Fiona Reid.
