If you were in the Queen West area over the weekend, you probably noticed it was buzzing in a way that felt out of the ordinary. The streets were crowded, there was standstill traffic, and Trinity Bellwoods Park was packed full of fans hurrying in the same direction.
That was all thanks to Toronto-born singer-songwriter Daniel Caesar, who staged a free pop-up concert at the park. The Grammy Award-winning R&B artist took to his Instagram page at approximately 3 p.m. on Saturday, saying, "Toronto. Trinity Bellwoods. Five o'clock."
With just two hours' notice, thousands of fans poured into the park's dog bowl area to catch a glimpse of the artist, who previously revealed that he'd be doing a free pop-up tour for his upcoming fourth studio album, Son of Spergy.

As Caesar entered the park, he was accompanied by security and long-time collaborator, Mustafa the Poet.

Thousands of fans surrounded Caesar — with some even climbing trees to get a better look — as he played his guitar and sang hits from his discography, like the Grammy Award-winning song, "Best Part."

One person even brought a ladder to the pop-up concert and encouraged Caesar to climb it so that fans across the park could see him.

On Sunday, Caesar hosted a similar pop-up concert in Montreal at Parc Des Hirondelles, which was also attended by hundreds of fans. Caesar's album is currently slated for release on Oct. 24.
