U.S. traveller obsessed with Bulk Barn after visit to Toronto

For those who call Toronto home, the city's sparkle can sometimes feel dim under the layers of construction, heavy traffic jams, and ever-rising cost of living. However, every so often, a tourist's fresh perspective reminds us just how special this city really is.

In a post on Reddit, one user from Ohio shared their first-ever experience visiting Toronto, and quickly went viral for their enthusiasm, especially over Bulk Barn.

"My husband has wanted me to visit Toronto since we met, since he grew up here," the post began. "For context, I'm American and he is [a] dual Canadian/American citizen, and his family moved when he was a teen. He misses it so much, I wish we could move here but it's so expensive."

From there, the American visitor fired off a list of things they loved about Toronto, from its cleanliness and cultural diversity to the ease of public transit and the late-running subway system, but it was one store in particular that really caught their attention.

"Bulk Barn is now my favourite store ever. I told my husband we will come up strictly for this," they wrote.

Beyond their newfound love for the Canadian bulk food retailer, the visitor praised Toronto's inclusivity. "I LOVE the amazing cultures around here! Thank you for celebrating cultures and not covering them up. I have (surprisingly) spoken so much German here, it's made my week! The food is so good."

They also gushed about how safe Toronto felt, despite being a major city. "Honestly it feels like most people here care about the wellbeing of others which is amazing and such a breath of fresh air from the U.S."

The post, which was shared on the Toronto Reddit page, was immediately met with the same enthusiasm from locals. "It's posts like this that make me appreciate Toronto despite what it can be to me sometimes lol," one user wrote, while another chimed in with, "Bulk Barn is really a national treasure. Thanks for coming and come back again soon!"

The American tourist ended their post on a hopeful note, writing that maybe one day they'll move up north, but in the meantime, they'll only be buying Canadian goods when visiting (which inevitably includes another trip to Bulk Barn).
