LCBO website offline in Ontario as retailer scrambles to remove U.S. products

Ontario has initiated its retaliation against U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs, perhaps most noticeable at LCBO locations, where American alcohol products are rapidly being pulled from shelves.

Newly re-elected Ontario Premier Doug Ford is following through on his pledge to remove U.S.-produced alcohol from LCBO locations across the province, a move that has resulted in the provincial retailer's website being taken offline temporarily.

Doug Ford's deputy chief of staff, Ivana Yelich, took to X on Tuesday morning to inform LCBO customers that the provincial liquor retailer's website had gone offline as part of the premier's plan to pull U.S. alcohol products from LCBO shelves.

Visitors to the LCBO website on Tuesday are being greeted by a message explaining that the website is unavailable while staff make changes to store stock.

The message informs customers that "our site is temporarily unavailable while we remove U.S. products in response to U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods," and adds that "our in-store customer service remains unaffected."
