Toronto restaurant that's been around for 35 years has permanently closed

A restaurant in Toronto has permanently closed its doors after 35 years in business. 

Tucked away in a strip mall, Armenian Kitchen became a one-stop shop for Middle Eastern dishes over the years, serving up baba ghanoush, hummus, baked tomato, sujuk (spicy sausage) sandwiches, shish kabob, shawarma, falafel, and vegetarian combo platters. 

Despite being founded in 1989, the restaurant closed its doors without an official announcement to its customers. Although the restaurant's website is still operational, its storefront is covered by sheets of beige paper.

A sign posted on the restaurant's window reveals that a new business is planning to take over the space, namely "Saluhan Resto," which will serve up Filipino cuisine, fish and chips, and more.

blogTO reached out to Armenian Kitchen to inquire about the reasoning behind the restaurant's closure but didn't hear back.
