Ontario cops stage rescue after adorable raccoon gets stuck in sewer grate
A helpless raccoon stuck in a sewer grate was rescued by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) last week and is now back to rummaging through trash and generally being an adorable menace.
Burlington OPP officers found themselves pursuing a different kind of masked bandit after a raccoon was spotted struggling in a grate on a highway off-ramp.
Police state that they were alerted to the raccoon's presence by "sharp-eyed drivers," saying the ubiquitous Ontario critter had "got in a little over their head."
According to the OPP, police were able to block the left lane of the ramp linking the eastbound Highway 403 with Highway 407 in Burlington to "give a helping hand" to the raccoon.
Officers dubbed the raccoon "Rocky," though they didn't have much time to get acquainted with their new friend, who reportedly "fled the scene, seemingly unharmed."
