An entire transit line on the TTC's network shut down early Tuesday morning and remains out of service through mid-afternoon. The outage comes at the start of a brutal heat wave in the city, as humidex values soar into the 40s.
The TTC announced just after 8 a.m. that the Line 6 Finch West had gone out of service due to a communication issue, leaving commuters out in the extreme temperatures to wait for replacement shuttle buses.
As of 1 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, Line 6 remains out of service.

Line 6 opened on Dec. 7, 2025, and has suffered numerous full-line closures in its brief lifespan.
Toronto has faced similar issues with its other new LRT line, with Tuesday's outage coming just two weeks after an unplanned closure of Line 5 Eglinton during the opening days of the FIFA World Cup festivities in Toronto.
In addition to the TTC disruption, GO Transit has announced that extreme heat has impacted local service.
Metrolinx states that "During prolonged periods of high heat, we are required to run trains at slower speeds. To ensure the safety of our customers and crew, slow orders are issued along the network."
The regional transit agency warns that some trips may be cancelled or delayed due to the ongoing heat wave.
