ttc subway closure this weekend

TTC to shut down almost 5 kilometres of subway this weekend

TTC subway closures planned this weekend include a single-day shutdown on a portion of Line 2 Bloor-Danforth stretching between Kipling and Jane stations.

Toronto commuters relying on the west end of Line 2 this weekend should plan accordingly, as the TTC has announced it will close an over 4.5-kilometre-long stretch of the busy route for the full day of Saturday, April 25, 2026.

The transit agency is advising customers that service along this stretch will be replaced by shuttle buses, and attributes the inconvenience to "planned signal work."

All stations along the route change will remain open for TTC riders to connect with surface routes and purchase/reload fares. However, the Grenview Boulevard entrance at Royal York Station will be closed throughout the closure.

The TTC has stated that regular subway service will resume on Sunday, April 26, at approximately 8 a.m.

Weekend closures had been scheduled for the previous two weekends, though the TTC ultimately cancelled these outages and deferred planned construction.
