ttc subway closure this weekend

TTC will shut down 5-kilometre stretch of subway for this entire weekend

TTC subway closures this weekend will make for a complicated commute for anyone relying on the east end of the Line 2 Bloor-Danforth.

The TTC has announced that it will halt subway service on Line 2 between Victoria Park and Kennedy stations from 11 p.m. on Friday, March 6, to Sunday, March 8, 2026, the latest in a series of closures that the transit agency attributes to ongoing track work.

The approximately five-kilometre stretch of track spanning Victoria Park, Warden, and Kennedy stations will be replaced by shuttle buses for the duration of the weekend.

During the closure, Warden Station will be off limits to commuters, while both Victoria Park and Kennedy will remain open for riders to purchase fares and connect with surface routes.

Regular subway service is planned to resume on Monday, March 9, at approximately 6 a.m.

The planned service disruption is just the latest in a series of transit headaches for Scarborough residents. Locals have already had to endure the abrupt closure of the Line 3 Scarborough RT, the construction of its replacement busway, disruption caused by the Scarborough Subway Extension, and the extended wait for the now-open Eglinton Crosstown LRT.

At this point, a couple of days without subway service is just par for the course in this part of the city.
