Major TTC subway outage planned for this weekend and there won't be shuttle buses

TTC subway closures this weekend include a key stretch of the network scheduled to shut down for a full day, marking the fourth consecutive weekend with a major planned disruption to transit service.

The TTC has announced that it will close a stretch of the Line 1 Yonge–University between St George and St Andrew stations on Saturday, Nov. 22, due to ongoing station work.

As with previous closures on this portion of Line 1, the TTC has opted not to run replacement shuttle buses during the closure, instead expecting commuters to rely on surface transit to connect with the nearby Yonge leg on the route.

In lieu of shuttle buses, the TTC has shared a list of surface transit options for commuters to navigate the subway closure this weekend.

If the closure sounds familiar, the TTC had just closed this exact stretch of Line 1 for the entire weekend of Saturday, Nov. 8, and Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025. That closure was also attributed to "planned station work."

The transit agency is advising passengers that Museum, Queen's Park, St. Patrick and Osgoode stations will be closed throughout the outage, while St. George and St. Andrew will remain open for passengers to purchase and reload fares, or connect with surface transit routes.

While there were 38 full-weekend closures planned for portions of the TTC subway, this marks one of the few instances where the outage is limited to a single weekend day.

Regular Sunday service on this stretch of the subway is expected to resume on Sunday, Nov. 23.
