Masellis Supermarket on the Danforth turned into a Hollywood-style set this week, with none other than Patrick Dempsey filming at the longstanding, family-run Italian shop in Toronto.
Although no confirmation has been given on the project the crew was filming for, it's reasonable to assume Dempsey was at Masellis Supermarket shooting scenes for Fox's upcoming television series Memory of a Killer, which is being filmed in Toronto and scheduled to wrap in December 2025.
Dempsey, popular for his roles in classics like Grey's Anatomy (2005), Made of Honor (2008), Disenchanted (2022), and others, has been spotted around town quite a bit since the summer.

Masellis Supermarket teased customers with a Facebook post on Nov. 21, announcing, "Masellis Supermarket will be closed on Monday, Nov. 24 due to an on-site filming shoot." This was then followed by a post on Nov. 24 that recapped the day's events.
"We had an exciting morning on the Danforth as a film crew took over the store — and yes, Patrick Dempsey was here in the aisles of Masellis!" the statement reads. It goes on to praise Dempsey's "down-to-earth" personality and shares images from the production inside the supermarket.

Customers quickly filled the comments section with excitement over their beloved local shop being graced by Dempsey himself. One user even promoted Maselli to celebrity status, writing, "No way!!!! How fun!!!! And Mario's a star!"
Masellis, however, is no stranger to television and local stardom, having appeared on CBC's Family Feud Canada in 2021.
Masellis Supermarket has served the local community for the past 66 years, and remains a reliable go-to for meats, pantry staples, cheeses, fresh fruits and vegetables, and deli items.
Locals and fans of both Masellis and Dempsey are definitely excited to see the final product with Toronto's very own supermarket featured in the series.
