Costco locations across Ontario rolling out big change for holiday season

Calling all Costco shoppers! The massive U.S. retailer is rolling out some changes during the holiday season, and here's everything you need to know.

Just in time for the festive season, Costco Canada is introducing extended shopping hours, but only for a short period.

Between Dec. 15 to Dec. 23, Costco warehouses will be extending their shopping hours to 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends (previously 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. during the week and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays).

However, that extended schedule will be cut short on Christmas Eve, when Costco warehouses will only operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Boxing Day, which falls on a Friday this year, will see warehouses open from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and the New Year's Eve schedule will be similar to that of Dec. 26, with warehouses open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Costco warehouses will be closed on New Year's Day.

Business Centres in Ontario will also adjust their schedules. Starting Nov. 16 until Jan. 1, the centres will now operate from Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Still, there are a few notable exceptions to be aware of. While Business Centres will be open on Christmas Eve (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.), Boxing Day (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.), and New Year's Eve (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.) for any last-minute trips, stores will not be operating on Christmas Day or New Year's Day.

Starting Jan. 2, hours are set to return to normal, so if you're planning on embarking on a massive holiday stock-up, make sure to take advantage of the extra time over the next couple of weeks.
