Ontario could get snow very soon and the next month promises even more

A long-range forecast reveals what weather conditions we can expect in Ontario throughout November, and unfortunately, it involves a lot of snow.

The Old Farmer's Almanac produces long-range monthly breakdowns of weather conditions across Canada, including southern Ontario.

According to the almanac, November might shape up to be one of the snowiest periods the region sees throughout fall and winter. The average monthly temperature in November is projected to be 1 degree C, which is one degree below the historical average, and could set the stage for some dramatic weather with precipitation factored in.

And while Southern Ontario's expected monthly precipitation total of 65 mm might seem like a lot, it is actually 5 mm below the historical average for November.

From Nov. 1 to Nov. 10, the long-range forecast predicts periods of rain and even snow, followed by sunny skies and cold temperatures. Between Nov. 11 and Nov. 24, we can expect more rain and snow showers coupled with cold temperatures, followed by mild conditions.

The region is expected to see its first snowstorm before December even rolls around, between Nov. 25 and Nov. 27. Finally, from Nov. 28 to Nov. 30, we can anticipate more rain and snow showers with mild temperatures.

Looking ahead, the forecast predicts that winter will be colder and drier than normal in the eastern portion of the region with below-average snowfall, while it will be warmer than normal in the west with above-average precipitation and snowfall.

The coldest temperatures of the season will land between mid- and late December, early and late January, and early February, while the periods with the most snow will take place in late November and early to mid-February.

The good news is that we still have a few more weeks of mild temperatures before the bitter cold settles in. Heading into Halloween weekend, Toronto is expected to see lots of rain, with showers forecasted for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Despite this, temperatures will remain mild, with a high of 8 degrees C on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
