If you're planning on taking the subway this weekend, you might want to brace yourself for a disruptive commute, as the TTC is planning two major subway closures that will affect nearly 10 kilometres on Line 1 and Line 2 combined.
With limited alternatives and no shuttle buses in some areas, it's important to plan your journey out in advance. Here's a full breakdown of all the TTC closures this weekend.
On Saturday, July 26, and Sunday, July 27, there will be no subway service between St. George and St. Andrew subway stations to make way for planned station work. Shuttle buses will not be operating in this stretch, and Museum, Queen's Park, St. Patrick, and Osgoode subway stations will also be closed.
All other subway stations will remain open for you to purchase or load your PRESTO card, and connect to surface routes. If you want to connect to Line 1, there are a number of alternative surface and subway routes you can choose from, including taking Line 2 to Bloor-Yonge station and connecting to Line 1 to St. Andrew station, and taking a 506 Carlton streetcar eastbound to College station.
On Saturday and Sunday, #TTC crews will conduct essential subway maintenance at various locations throughout the network to ensure long-term system reliability. This includes full-weekend track and station upgrades on Line 1, and track and cable work on Line 2 (Saturday only)

Alternatively, you can take a 501 Queen streetcar eastbound to Yonge Street and Adelaide Street West, where you can either walk for two minutes south to King Station, or walk approximately five minutes north to Queen station.
Regular subway service along this stretch will resume on Monday, July 28.
Also happening this weekend is a full-day closure on Saturday, July 26, between Kipling and Keele subway stations. Subway service on this stretch of Line 2 will be replaced by shuttle buses until the end of service at 2 a.m. for planned work.
As part of the work, Runnymede and High Park subway stations, but all other subway stations will remain open. The TTC notes that customers with accessibility needs can take the 149 Etobicoke-Bloor Accessibility Shuttle buses, which operate between Kipling and High Park stations.
Regular subway service will officially resume between Kipling and Keele stations on Sunday, July 27.
Although the TTC does most subway maintenance at the end of service each night, the agency notes that it continues to require early weeknight and weekend closures to complete state-of-good-repair work.
At the beginning of 2025, the TTC announced that its subway network would face 38 overlapping full-weekend closures throughout the year.
