Liberal voters in one of Toronto's most hotly-contested battleground ridings were mistakenly directed to the wrong station in what could prove a costly election day fumble.
A voter in midtown Toronto's Eglinton—Lawrence riding reported that homes on their block were issued flyers on behalf of Liberal candidate Vince Gasparro in the morning hours after the polls opened.
The flyer directed voters from at least one Glencairn Avenue address, and possibly other streets, to cast their ballots at John Wanless Public School, contradicting voter information cards specifying the correct location of Glenview Senior Public School.
Luckily, the voters who reported this discrepancy had already cast their ballots by the time the flyer arrived on their doorsteps, but it raises questions of just how widespread this error was.
A representative from Gasparro's campaign confirmed the report to blogTO, explaining that "after some investigation, it looks like an errant door knocker got into the pile due to volunteer oversight."
While this suggests the issue is highly localized, staffers have been scrambling to ensure everyone is clear about where to vote.
"To be sure, we've sent people to redrop the area with the proper voting location, just to make doubly sure, and called through the poll in question to make sure we have the correct info with voters," continued the campaign representative.
"While there is a disclaimer on the card to cover these mistakes, we obviously are invested in making sure our supporters know where to vote, so we are going the extra mile to remedy this."

While a few misdirected voters seem like a harmless error on the surface, there are some very fresh wounds among Liberals in this riding that elevate an innocent mistake into potential disaster territory.
Vince Gasparro is all too familiar with the razor-thin margins dividing Liberal and Conservative voters in this part of town.
Gasparro ran in the same riding for the Ontario Liberal Party during the 2025 provincial election just weeks earlier, where he was defeated by just 167 votes — an exceptionally narrow victory for the Ontario PC party considering 40,646 ballots were cast in Eglinton—Lawrence.
Gasparro is running against Conservative candidate and former Toronto City councillor Karen Stintz to replace incumbent Liberal MP Marco Mendicino.
