Ontario power outage map shows over 218,000 homes in the dark amid brutal ice storm

Over 218,000 Ontario homes are in the dark as widespread blackouts impact the province amid a brutal ice storm this weekend, according to Hydro One's outage map.

Hydro One confirmed that homes in central and eastern Ontario without electricity reached hundreds of thousands as freezing rain weighed down tree branches and power lines.

"Power outages continue across central & eastern Ontario due to freezing rain," stated the utility company in a Saturday post on X, assuring the public that "Crews are working as quickly & safely as possible."

Hydro One's social media post warns the public to "Stay safe, stay back from downed lines."
