Artist Project is back in Toronto and here are 4 things you can expect

Toronto’s leading art fair dedicated to independent contemporary artists is back for its 2026 iteration, and whether you’re an art collector or cultural enthusiast, you don’t want to miss out.

Artist Project is taking place at the Enercare Centre from March 26 to 29, 2026. This new venue will host over 250 juried artists from across Canada for four days of art, discovery, collecting, and more.

Here’s a glimpse into what you can expect!

The best of the best

Not just anyone can be an exhibitor at this competitive art show. A jury of experts is in charge of selecting more than 250 emerging to established independent artists across mediums such as painting, photography, sculpture, textile, mixed media, and installation.

artist projectArtists are selected based on originality, technical strength, and conceptual clarity – all the factors make up a well-rounded creator.

New talent

In the interest of accessibility, Artist Project also offers Untapped, a juried initiative dedicated to supporting students, new graduates, and self-taught artists through an emerging artists competition.

Winners are awarded free exhibition space and a high-profile platform for the opportunity to present their work, build networks, and engage directly with collectors, curators, and the overall art community.

Where sport meets art

It's fair to say that 2026 is shaping up to be the year of sports here in Canada, and while competition is a prime element of sports, it’s also present at every level in the art world.

artist projectIn honour of Toronto’s year of sport, Artist Project is introducing The Art of the Game, a featured juried exhibition inspired by sport, movement, and play. Sport is what provides the initial image and conceptual spark, while serving as a metaphor for the art world itself.

After all, preparation, endurance, emotional stakes, and excellence are what define success in both art and sport, proving that what seem like opposite disciplines actually have a lot in common.

Party time

To kick off this exciting art fair, Artist Project 2026 will launch with an Opening Night Party on Thursday, March 26, from 6 to 10 p.m. This is your prime opportunity for first access to artwork across the fair, and to enjoy food, drinks, live DJ performances, and a celebratory atmosphere.
