Kupfert & Kim Bistro
Kupfert & Kim Bistro is a full-service, licensed outpost of the meatless and wheatless chain.
Familiar bowls and everyday brunch are served here alongside dinner, brunch and drink menus exclusive to this location.
Formerly home to Tutti, the high-ceilinged, open space seats around 30. Live plants hang from the ceiling and cover the walls.
A Blueberry Smoothie Bowl ($10.75) has a base of wild blueberries, cashews, lemon, dates, vanilla and flax topped with ultra-healthy organic apple slices, granola, chia, hemp and blueberries.
Harvey's Savoury Waffle ($12.25) is specific to this location, topping their famous, fluffy gluten-free waffle made with brown rice flour and chickpea flour with organic tempeh, guacamole, corn, house kimchi, and tons of vegan hollandaise.
The Benny ($13.25) is also exclusive to here, seed and oat toast topped with smashed avocado, organic kale, roasted mushrooms, and a cashew ricotta and vegan hollandaise that pull off the look of an egg, though this tastes nothing like one.
A menu of toasts launched here includes Avocado Toast ($7.75), dense house seed and oat toast topped with smashed avocado, cucumber, radish, pickled onion, pomegranate, and a generous sprinkling of tasty sunflower parmesan and sea salt.
The Mediterranean Toast ($7.75) is a bit of a twist, topped with hummus, sunflower pesto, lemon, toasted walnut, herbs, bitter chopped Kalamata olives and pomegranate.
Hemp & Sunflower Falafel ($8.50) are a standout new addition, served with Deeb's local single ingredient coconut yogurt, olive oil, mint, tahini, za'atar and optional hot sauce.
A new Miso Ginger Broth Bowl ($12.25) is quite hearty and warming, loaded up with kimchi, daikon, green onion, radish, carrot, bok choy, wakame, roasted mushrooms, tofu, brown rice or quinoa, and my favourite part, cashews.
Butternut Lasagna ($14.50), another new entree, replaces pasta sheets with butternut squash, layered with lentil bolognese, cashew ricotta and zucchini, topped with pesto, sprouts and sunflower parm.
Opt for Mocha Cheesecake ($9) from a list of sweets, a very rich cashew cheesecake that gets its cheesy flavour from nutritional yeast with an almond and date crust.
The Golden Milk Smoothie ($7.85) combines organic banana, turmeric, ginger, lemon, coconut milk and lemongrass with dates and black pepper for a surprisingly creamy yet healthy boost.
A turmeric ginger latte ($4.50) is a punch in the face of powerful, spicy flavour.
As for cocktails, a Caesar ($10.50) is made with your choice of gin, vodka or tequila, Walter's vegan Caesar mix, Cholula hot sauce that really lends a kick, lime, and an Old Bay rim, with house pickles and other veg to garnish.
A Spritz ($10.50) is much simpler, natural Dominio de Punctum skin contact wine combined with orange juice and kombucha.
